From 2016 to 2017
This is a BMBF pilot project of comprehensive treatment of water pollution, which is jointly carried out by the German Ministry of Education, the Chinese Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology. It is also a demonstration project of pollution treatment in Taihu Lake basin. The project has comprehensively treated 11 combined sewage overflow outlets of the Huancheng River, retained and reformed 6 of them to guarantee flood control and drainage, and improve overflow pollution of the Huancheng River.
An overflow control proposal is adopted, using coarse screens and electrical self-cleaning brush screens to remove overflow pollutants. Backstop equipments are equipped to prevent external river water from flowing back into the pipeline network.
